I don't believe that you can create any sound with any vst by using EQ and compression. Steven Slate drums happen to be more contemporary and like how I would set up my own kit. They have more velocity layers than anyone and some of the best engineers in the world. The other libraries are good, they just don't have the weight in the sound like SSD ,except Platinum samples.īFD with platinum samples is excellent and a very detailed set of sounds. I have tried it many times and listened to countless demos of others. I don't think you can get this sound from stock BFD sounds or superior even with extensive use of plug ins. I am finding that SSD is the punchiest, biggest sounding of all of them I get the best response in superior and BFD for certain instruments, but SSD works great on others.

If you can wait a week or so,I will see how the 3.5 update works. Thanks in advance for anyone's/everyone's thoughts, advice, etc! What drum kit are you using? I would suggest the Steven Slate LE version. I am glad they sound so different and my wife is generous enough letting ge own all of them as well :-) the beauty is that each one offers something different the other doesn't. they will release a new version for their KOntatk Player correcting these problems and even improving playability with e-drumsįor me. so far you are limited to three/four toms for some kits. needs a lot of tweaking to get aroudn its MIDI limitation when it comes to adding extra pieces to your kit. I found out none of my libraries play as well with my TD20 as SUperior does. and what the heck they are releasing a new pack. I would go for BFD2 for a larger variety of sounds.and Platinum Samples simply rock !! You will probably do not need much specially with PLatinum to get your drums mix ready. Right now between BFD2 and S2 original sounds.

Thanks in advance for anyone's/everyone's thoughts, advice, etc! Please note my set-up below (iMac & Logic 8). I'm not into one specific music style, (world, rock, metal, electronic trance & ambient, drum 'n' bass), so versatility would be nice, but it isn't totally crucial.

Question is this: What would be everyone's personal preference if you had to just pick one virtual drum software app? (I can't break the bank on this so I'm getting only one for now). The sounds were good, I thought, and it's a very reasonable price for the LE version. However, today I learned about Steven Slate Drums. I've been itching to buy Superior Drummer for a while now. I was just about to start a new one about virtual drums software when I finally found this thread. I can point out some differences if anyone would like to know.Hey Peter.
